Hi Glenn, I am new at this too and trying to find my Baribeault roots. My Grandfather was Edward Calvin Baribeault Sr. and was born in Meriden, Connecticut. He was the son of Ernest Emil Baribeault(b1884 Meriden, Connecticut) and Charlotte Wilkinson. With the help of Flo on the Connecticut board I have been able to find out Ernest's middle name was Emil. His father presumably was Edmond P Baribault (notice no eault) bJuly 1867 in Connecticut and his grandfather was Eugene Baribault bOct 1850 in Canada. I have been wondering why the spelling changed from the 1930 Census of Baribeault with Ernest and Charlotte to the spelling of Baribault furing the 1910 and 1900 Census. I agree that it must be an English corruption. There are many Baribeault's in the 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1930 Census. I have no clue if I am related to any of them as of yet. I was born in Connecticut with the maiden name of Baribeault (New London County) but the only Baribeault family I knew of was my Grandfather, his brother Ernest and my Great Grandmother Charlotte....and that was as a small child in the 70's. I never even met Ernest and Charlotte, which is sad. I had only heard of them. So...I am on the same journey looking for my Baribeault connection. If I find anything further, I will share it with you. Ann Sokos Notify Administrator about this message?
