Candi, in a pamplet that I have " All Persons Listed Were Born Or Married A BARFIELD/BAREFIELD/BEARFIELD" and it list male and female; here is all the info it has.

"Louis Ashton of Jones Co., NC...m. Jezubel Allen Mallard Oct. 11, 1852 (LDS); Mexican War NC Vol. filed Oct. 17, 1887 NC."

"Jezabel Allen-Mallard of Jones Co., NC...m. Oct 11, 1852 to Lewis Aston Barfield."

Sorry it isn't much, I would check to see if there are war records for him. He was also of age for the Civil War, I would check for records there.
