Oh, I assume, for the same reason-that Arch's wife belongs. Only one in the area who fits- Circumstantial proof-naming pattern etc. are great-as leading to the final proof.

And I search and I record what others have said..but lacking in Wills, deeds etc. I can only assume. So I say no proof-or none to me-none I have found.

I have another line of my own like this-Cary Cox. My ancester Levinia traveled with them, on deeds with them-her siblings etc. named children after them, and they named for her-but in about 20 something years I have found only more of same. Some of them were just not thoughtful enough of US to leave those great tracks. Too busy moving, staying alive, or something! Maybe they left them, to give them the benifit of the doubt-and they have been lost in the shuffle of time.

I have this in my notes on Jesse=by the way-but no proof there either-just something shared with me. ( would love to see the book- or better still=the above wills and deeds if they are out there.)

"Hopefully, this message will correct a misconception: Jesse Barfield who was the Tory is not buried in Macon County, GA. According to th "History of the Old Cheraws", Jesse the Tory died in a British encampment in 1781 with either smallpox or diphtheria. Jesse's son, Barrett did not move to Macon County until sometime in 1834-1835. The Jesse Barfield that is buried in Macon County, GA is Barrett Barfield's son and the grandson of Jesse "the Tory" Barfield. I visited the site of this graveyard near Garden Valley with my father some 15 or 20 years ago. There were only 3 graves left. It was in a field in a bend in a dirt road. Since then the graves have been plowed under or over, really a shame that this happened. Thanks"

"Also shown this way:
To help answer your questions about Jesse Barfield, here is what I've found. Jesse Barfield, born about 1812, in MARION COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, son of Roger Barfield, born about 1793 in Marion County, South Carolina, son of Barrett Barfield, son of Jesse "The Tory" Barfield, son of Solomon Barfield, son of Richard (2), son of Richard (1), son of Jon "The Immigrant" Barfield."
