It is my understanding that a Solomon Barfield who lived in North Carolina and fought in the American Revolution was granted land in Washington Co.,Georgia. Washington County at that time comprised most of eastern central Georgia and Hancock is I believe one of the seven or eight counties that were once part of Washington. He married a Margaret Whitfield and I am descended from their son William. It is, of course, likely that they had another, older son who was named for his father. The age and place of birth would be right for the Solomon about whom you are looking for information. I hope this helps.
