Jim,

This is a real longshot indeed. I trace back to a James Barkley who settled in Orange County (then Ulster County) NY circa 1730. By the 1800s, his descendants began to pioneer westward. Most went from NY to PA to OH to IL to MI and the some to IA. Some stayed on at one point or another. Just located a collateral brach in KS just three months ago. And have a wisp of information about a few Barkley/Barclays who ended up in MO. Don't really know if there is any connection between us. Would need a bit more information like oral family traditions to nail this down
more clearly. If they were Presbyterians however, that would cause me to redouble my efforts. And of course, I would keep you informed of anything I may find, whether connected or not as I will be exploring MO roots shortly backtracing the MO connection I have found however wispy it may be.

Cheers from Ireland !!! I am a retired New Yorker now living here.

Hartley
