James,
I am also descended from Joseph Barclay of Jackson County, Alabama. My Grandmother (Zora Barclay) was the daughter of of his grandson, William Henry Barclay, son of Henry Brazelton Barclay, son of Joseph. I too have been trying to trace back beyoond Joseph without much luck. The closet I can come based on time frames is that Joseph could have possibly been the son of William Jr. and Esther Barclay. They had eight children: John (1778), Joseph, Mary, Stephen, Margaret, Martha, Ester, and Hugh. William, Jr. was the son of William, born 1669 in Scotland, died in 1732 in Lancaster County, PA. Married Mary (?) (1669-1757). I ahve been trying to get a definite link to this family line connecting Joseph to William, Jr. but have not yet been able to definitily establish the link. If you can shed some light on this possibility I would be most appreciative.
