If you haven't already done so, and assuming your grandfather is David Kenneth Barclay (1930-1996), you might contact the Commonweatlth of Massachusetts Dept of Health, re: death certificate 041298 (per Massachusetts Death Index, 1970-2003, ancestry.com). That may have an indication of his parents, even (perhaps) his mother's maiden name.
