Barclay Family Genealogy Forum

Hey Sue White. I don't think I have answered you before. I hoped to be in contact with you descendants and find out all the mysteries of who Marget Kerr's Barclay husband was. And you dont know either. It seems to me there were a bunch of Barkleys in Rowan Co NC. There were our Barkleys, Robert m. to Leah, one girl married a Todd maybe from Todd's Mary Todd m. Abe Lincoln's family, or cousins with, and those other Barclays, Robert m. to Elanor, one of which married a Cowan and from that family Lyndon B Johnson, Lady Bird's husband was descended and also Alben, senator from Ky, VP in Truman Administration. Then there was Henry Barclay and his family, something about Knox in there, from whom Pres James Knox was desc and then there were the children of Margaret Barkley and Mr. King. Then did anyone else come with Margaret, like her sisters and brothers and their families? Any chance you know what happened to Margaret Kerr's son Robert so we could eliminate him as being our Robert m to Leah? Another mystery I was hoping to ask you was were you folks on the Jersey grant that was Baptist land? What church did Margaret and Mr King go to, and where was their land? How near or far were you from our land? Look at the NC map. Jersey Baptist Church is on Jersey church road, 2 miles from it on the other end of the Road is the school. around there is Jersey land. Oh yes, it is in Davidson Co now. I really would like to know more about your family. Are there other researchers you are in contact with? A very important point in our research is; is our Robert m to Leah the son of Margaret Kerr, or was he descended from some of those Virginia Barkleys, or was he straight from Scotland. Some are sure he was Margaret Kerr's son. Others are just as sure he was not. And then there is the Baptist thing. And a Robert Barkley in NJ paying pew rental on a Pres. pew while living in Rowan Co NJ. Any clues? I look forward to hearing from you. Oh, yes, look at Barclay Bastion. Seems to me there is a page about the Bible notation from some other family with the children of Margaret Kerr in it, no one knows why. Carliste or something like that is the family name. search Barclay Bastion. Those are mostly descendants of Robert b. 1774, son of Robert and Leah. Another point, did those other children of Margarett Kerr married to Mr Barkley continue to use the k spelling, or did they go with the c spelling later. Ours used k until they went to Texas. My ancestor was son Walter of Robert and Leah. son Robert also used the c spelling later.
