I believe he was born in Orange County, N.Y. abt. 1829. I also believe that his father's name was Henry Barkley. Nicholas apparently used both spelling variations of the surname.
He was a "sailor" by occupation. If anyopne knows of any maritime records which might list him, I would appreciate
having that information.
