Hi Janice, my wife is Roma's neice, Johnie Ruth Young Thomas whose mother was Silas Barkley (Roma's sister). Are you related to Lila Ruth? I have done extensive research on the Barkleys also. By the way, George Samuel's father was George Gracey Barkley and his grandfather was Samuel A. Barkley of Tippah Co Ms and Rowan Co. NC. Samuel and Matilda Gray Barkley settled in Tippah Co. Ms with another family James Walker and wife Jane Barkley Walker, presumably Samuel's sister who had married James Walker in NC. Their mother Mary Davis, daughter of Conrod and Sarah Davis, came to Tippah Co. with them after husband Samuel's death. Mary was living with Jane and her husband. Both the Walkers and Barkleys had a child in Georgia.
I will bring some of the info I have the next time we come down. I assumed wrongly that someone there had some of the research that I had completed. Glad to see you on the genforum. Tell Aunt Roma hello for us. Bobby Thomas
