Hi, A long shot indeed. But I do have some Browns in my collateral Barkley lines. From Orange County, N.Y. circa 1730 ....but they began pioneering westward by 1800 or so. I have just located some related NJ Barkley descendants who indicate that Ohio was one of the stopping off spots for some years before they pushed on to MI and IL. Prior to that, they had resided in PA. This group were the ones who created the first ferry over the Ohio River I gather, and seemingly it is still in operation today if the report I have is accurate. But since the Barkley/Barclays tended to pioneer along with the families they married into maybe your Brown roots go back to NY. Of course, I would need more information to figure out if that is true since what you have stated is a bit sparse, as is my new information. One BROWN connection I definitely have is an Antoinette Brown (7/12/1819 who married a Moses A. CRAWFORD, and his mother was a Mary BARKLEY b. 18 October 1783 who married an Archibald Crawford. And I have a Matthew BROWN who married a Jane Barkley January 29, 1803. If you have any CRAWFORD, MILLSPAUGH, PITTS, HUNTER, CHRIST, SEARS, HARRIS, YOUNGS, BOOKSTAVERS, HALL or VANKEURENS in your collateral lines, your BROWNS may somehow be connected with my BARKLEYS. Like I said, a longshot, but, hey, I have learned in this game that even long shots sometimes pay off. Cheers !!! Hartley Barclay Notify Administrator about this message?
