Your John Barbour would be my 2nd cousin, 6 times removed. My records show that he married Susannah Wilson in 1763. They had ten children: Eunice, John, Joanna, Esther, Miriam, Dorcas, William, Susan, charles, Robert.

John b. 1739 is descended from Hugh b. abt 1710/John b. abt 1687/John b. abt 1660.

John Barbour, b. abt 1660, immigrated to America, from Scotland,in the latter part of the 17th century with his two sons John and James and his daughter "Widow Gibbs". His two brothers William and Thomas also came with them. They landed in Virginia, where his brother William and his family settled. His brother Thomas and his family settled in Conneticut. John Barbour and his family settled in York, Maine. He moved to Falmouth, Maine around 1711. He was a farmer by profession and a presbyterian by faith. He drowned in 1719.
