John Barber on the ship Welcome 1682

I am trying to locate any information on John Barber, married to Elizabeth Songhurst Barber that sailed with William Penn to PA in 1682.
I found some information someone wrote possibly on a message board somewhere that George Barber, born in 1743 Augusta County VA was his son. I haven't been able to confirm this and believe this to be untrue. I believe the misunderstanding comes from the fact John's wife and George's mother's first name was Elizabeth. However their maiden names are different. Can anyone confirm this or prove that they are indeed, somehow related and how? I am a descendant of George Barber - through Plyer Barber. His son Absalom is my great grandfather.
