Hi Jerald,
I am doing research on my Barber family tree and I found a William Barber in Jackson Co., MS on the 1850 census. This William was 80 years old which would put him being born c1770. The census says that he was born in SC, his wife Polly was also born in SC in c1780. My Great Grandfather was a William Barber too. He was born in AL in May 1838, but his father was born in MS. Another researcher told me that my William's father was Willis Barber and that his mother was Betsy Galloway. There was a Willis on the Jackson Co. 1850 census, but his wife was named Eliza. This Willis was 31 years old so born c1829. In your posting you said that the William you were looking for had children, do you know what their names were? Was your William married to a Polly? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
