Deborah,My family is from Decaturville, Decatur Co Tennessee. As it is just a few miles from Bath Springs I thought this may help.My ggrandfather's name was Thomas Jefferson Barber.Born late 1800's. Died early 1920s.He was married twice.I'm not sure of the first wife's name but they had several children.I know there was a Red(nickname I'm sure but I don't know his real name) Hovie, and Cloy (or Chloe). There were a few more children but I'm not sure of their names.I'll have to ask my granddad.I believe they were from the Selmer area.Thomas' first wife died and he married Minnie Esther Kennedy. Her father was Sam Kennedy who performed some function in the Decatur Co administration in the early 1900s.I know that Thomas Jefferson Barber is a family name that has been passed down many generations. My grandfather's name is Samuel Carter Barber.Thomas Jefferson Barber died when my grandfather was just a year old and his widow remarried George Franklin White.I think (I'm not sure on this) that Thomas Jefferson Barber's father had the same name and served in the Civil War.I have some copies of discharge papers where he was discharged at Nashville.I believe he was a Union Soldier.Sorry not much information but it may help.I'm just now getting started on this.
