I have been told that Emma BARBEE, Dau. of Thomas B. Barbee and Sara Malisa TILLMAM. Sara is full blood native american and was given a roll number, Sara's mother with the american last name of McCormick, first name unknown. I understand the Indian Agentcy did not want to be bothered with Indian names, so they gave them numbers for identity purposes and dealings with the Indian Agentcy.....How does one go about cross-checking names vs numbers, and Indian names vs English style names?
