Seeking info. on my Ggrandfather Thomas B. BARBEE of Dandrige, Jefferson Co., Tenn. All I know at this time is that at the age of 18, he enlisted as a Pvt. in Co. D, 9th Reg. Tenn. Cav. on May 28th 1863 at Muddy Creek, Tenn, after a hospital stay at Jeffersonville, Ind. in March 1865 he was transfered to the "new" Co. B I am not sure if he mustered out with Co. C or D on the 11th of Sept. 1865 at Knoxville, Tenn. There is a Cocke Co. connection also, with a John BARBEE, possiblly a son, applying for Vet. pension in his name. My grandmother Emma A BARBEE was born in Denison, Grayson Co. Texas, she was already a widow with 6 children when she married my grandfather Andrew Jackson BROWN, born in Johnson Co. Ky. in 1865. Andrew Jackson and Emma were married in Love Co. Indian Terr. Okla. 14 Nov. 1908. Emmas mother is believed to have the last name of McCormick. Will post follow up when learned.
