Barbees in 1850 Crawford Co. IL
Posted by: Paul Escarraz Date: May 01, 1998 at 19:40:31
  of 1653

I had assumed that the Barbee families in Crawford CO. IL in 1850 were
related to John Barbee who married Sarah Logow in Crawford Co. and moved
to Clark Co. IL. From the 1850 census data it appears that there were
four Barbee house holds in Crawford Co. headed by two Williams and two
Thomas'. I also know that a William Barbee was in Crawford Co. in 1817.
He was a justice of the peace and one of the earliest land owners in the
county. I was guessing that this was John's brother, but according to the
listing of the Andrew Barbee line at the Barbee Crossings site John's
brother William went to Miami Co. OH and died in 1813.

This leaves me with a bit of a mystery. There are many Williams and
Thomas' in the Andrew Barbee line, as well as the William Barbee line.
I would appriciate any help in identifying these families. Thanks
