The Barbre I am looking for were in La. The Major Barbre was in
Marksville, La long enough to have a son Eli Barbre by Indian
lady Chiki Arsan - he married in late 1800 to Eunice Desell whose
mother was listed as Mary Louise Bordelon. The Major I am looking
for was according to an Aunt went to New Roads, La. She said she
visited him with her Grandfather, Eli - he was asked to settle with
his father in New Roads however he chose to go back to the
Resvervation. He was chief of the tribe for many years - Nathan
Barbre\Barbry\ married Sallie Jiminez in Fullerton, La in appx
1925 or 26 and had one child Edgar Barbre- this source was his
enlistment in World War II - Would like more information on this
"Major" as I cannot find him in Point Coupee Parish or Avoyless,
Parish.
Also am trying to find K F P Powell ( Caddo ) last time found was
1871 in Hineston, La. now Elmer at at trading post. This person
is listed on the census as Black - we believe him to be Indian -
His granddaughter Emily found in the 1920 census was listed as
Indian.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
