John Barbee (Barba) b 1778 d 1844 m Caterenah Tucker
Posted by: Jessica Davis (ID *****4162) Date: December 18, 2009 at 03:08:07
  of 1670

John Barbee b 1778 Cabarrus County North Carolina d May 5 1844 Cabarrus County North Carolina buried Tucker Cemetery Cabarrus County North Carolina. On Dec 12 1805 in Cabarrus County North Carolina he married Caterenah Barbara "Kate" Tucker b between 1780 and 1790 Mecklenburg County North Carolina d Mar 15 1844 Cabarrus County North Carolina daughter of George R Tucker Jr and Maria Dorothea Clay.

John and Caterenah had five children:
Josiah 1810 - 1886
Gabriel 1813 - 1880
Benjamin 1817 - 1893
Allen 1824 - 1866

Elizabeth Barbee married Ransom Motley whose parents were Thomas Motley II and Keziah Barbee (Some say Keziah was Goin Barbee's daughter but I have not found any indication that she was. If she IS his daughter then she was not named in the will). Ransom Motley is also related to James Marion Motley who married Loadicea "Dicey" Hopson and his sister Nancy Motley who married James Hardy Weatherspoon.

According to Janet at the Barbee Crossroads website John Barba has now been found to be John Barbee who is a descendant of the William Barbee line.

I am trying to figure out who his parents are and my question is could his parents b Francis Barbee Jr and Betty Hawes? They had three children: William, Mary and John. Their son William is the only one I have any date for which is being born around 1775. Yes it is a stretch right now since that is all the information I have but for now it is my theory.
