My grandfather Silas Monroe Barbee was born in Walnut Springs, TX Jul 20, 1886. I am searching for the names of his parents. I have limited information, but have been told that his father died and was buried in Walnut Springs in 1890. His death supposedly involved a snake while he was drinking from a stream. An old census record from listed listed an Ella Douglass as the head of the household, age 50. Silas Barbee, age 23 was listed as the son. It was very poor handwriting, and hard to read. I think this document was from Big Spring, TX. He was an engineer for the railroad and died Nov 4, 1950 in Menard Tx. while on a fishing trip. He was married to Minnie Myrtle Hollingsworth. Finding his parents is the key. I know Walnut Springs in is Bosque County, and there are many Barbee families there, so I am hoping that some of them might have the answers I am searching for. Any information will be so appreciated. Thank you
