I am looking for any info for Theresa Barbary, born about 1875 in New York. I now believe that she was memeber of the tribes of either the Poosepatuck or Shinnecock reserves in Suffolk county. She married Richard Garon (Garone) around 1897 and moved to Manhattan. The NY census from 1920 claims that she was born in NY, but was NOT a citizen. Unfortunately, it is rumored that she made up a maiden name to sound Italian because she had a very difficult time w/racism in NYC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
