Possibly try Coddington as William Coddington Governor in Newport Rhode Island has records of Barbados families fleeing to Rhode Island. Maybe there is a connection. Names get misspelled in families as I have found in my research. I am listing a record from 1684 concerning the name Coddington. I hope I have made a match and that this helps.
