I believe the origins of people with the last name Griffith in the Caribbean came from Barbados and before that Wales,England, etc. I am from Trinidad and my grandfather John Griffith came to Trinidad with another brother late 19th century. It is rumored another brother went to Guyana and another to Australia. Several years ago I met a nurse with the same last name from Guyana and she carried herself just like the Griffith's in Trinidad. I felt that we were family but I had no proof. One thing I know about our Griffith family and that is that we are very proud of our GRIFFITH name and we are very private people. I wish the Griffith family information in Barbados was more accessible. Since my greatgrand father was born 1870/71 in Barbados (St.Lucy??). He was a tall very light skin in complexion and freckeled faced (local white they would say). He had about 8 children in Trinidad 3 girls 2 of which were teachers. I have a photo of him as a young man and a group photo (1934) with his children.I would have to visit Black Rock Archives..I live in the U.S.I can not get any information from Trinidad other than his death certificate. "OH,BARBADOS THE FATHER COUNTRY OF SO MANY OF YOUR CHILDREN SCATTERED ALL OVER THE WORLD, PLEASE GIVE UP OUR FAMILY HISTORY INFORMATION." A Griffith in search of her family all over the world.
