I have a copy of a Certificate of Marriage from Barbados. I went down in 2008 and then again this last June and spent time in the archives. I am waiting for the certificates of baptism for Joseph Massiah Gittens and Anna Florence Weekes. If you send me your email address I can send you the info that I have. Also, George Whitfield is my mother's uncle, but even she didn't know about him.
Of course her mother, Christabelle died when mom was 13. My mother is still alive but is having memory problems. I have one other Marshall relative from that generation. She was married to Aldon Marshall, son of George Marshall and Christabelle Gittens. I have been sent some info from a Marshall cousin whose mom just died in Barbados this last March. Both he and his wife were born in B'dos but live in upper state NY. He would obviously go down to B'dos and he did LOTS of research in the archives searching Marshalls and Kings but has been guiding me and sends me stuff. He has recently sent me some info on descendants of John H. Gittens who according to my research in June was the father of Joseph Massiah Gittens. I also have been emailing Mary Gittens who was married to Julian Gittens son of Warren Julian Gittens, my mother's uncle. I have a note in my mother's things that says that there were 17 Gittens children. Will speak to her about it more today.
