The GREEN family in Barbados

I'm trying to gather information about the GREEN families of the Caribbean, from the mid-1800's and before. I know there were many GREENs in the Caribbean, going back to the 1600's. My great-grandfather was Matthew Francis GREEN, born 1831 or 1832 in Antigua. He joined the British Army, served in India and eventually retired to Australia. I think his father was also a soldier in the British Army. Maybe his ancestors were also from Antigua but I have some strong hints that his ancestors came from Barbados. I've also learned that somewhere in the ancestry there is a connection to the MONTAGUE family in colonial America, possibly in Virginia but it could also have been in Maryland, Massacheusets or Rhode Island etc. I know that many GREENs with African ancestry exist in the Caribbean but, even though those families might have a common ancestor with me, I have no African ancestry myself.
