Hi Jim, I'm still researching my Baptiste family from Mobile, AL Pierre Baptiste was born ca 1746 and family lore was that his father was Jean Baptiste. There is a possibility that Jean Baptiste was an illegitimate son of Jean Baptist Lemoyne, Sieur Bienville and a Native American woman. A noted historian has told me that it was rumored around the camp that Lemoyne had a son and that he brought him to the camp to raise. We have y-DNA results for our Baptiste straight male line back to Pierre Baptiste. Would love to compare markers to a Lemoyne descendant!
