The book "Memories and Records of Eastern North Carolina" by Mary Weeks Lambeth; 1957 mentions members of this family:

"Deed from Edward Baptist and wife, Barbary, Jan. 26, 1668, York County, Virginia.

"John Baptist living in Rappahannock (now Richmond County); gives mare to Mary Baptist.

"Sept. 24, 1706 - administration on the estate of Morgan Baptist deceased was granted to his widown Elizabeth."

"William Baptist and John Baptist in Richmond Co., VA."

"Dr. Benjamin Baptist was one of the early physicians of North Carolina. He was probably a French Huguenot (Bptiste), but I have not yet found the proof. He died in Chowan County in 1752 - his will mentions his wife, Mary Clark Baptist, and son Edmund"

There is further information on these people.
