Jim: Sorry, no Michigan info, but by branch of the family came to Canada (Niagara) also just after 1900; William Roland Banwell. From Somerset, originally of 7 brothers, by way of London and The Royal Navy. His brother, Congreve John, settled in New Zealand right at the turn of the century. Another branch moved to SW Ontario in the 1850's, and some are still down there in Windsor, just across the border from Detroit. I would be interested to know the name of your relative who first moved to Iowa. Regards, Frank.
