My family is from Louisiana and my father, Eugene Earl Banta is from Plaquemine, Louisiana. There are not many of us in Louisiana and most still live in Plaquemine/St. Gabriel, which is near Baton Rouge. His father was George Banta. My father's first cousins are Merlin, Frank and Wlison "Sonny" Banta and they all still live in the area. I don't know much about our family history and I have been meaning to get the "Banta Book" from one of the cousins mentioned above for years. I would love to know how they came to Louisiana. My grandfather worked for Huey Long.
