I clicked on this because it said "Banta and Reed". I am trying to find my Banta connection. My great-grandfather was Samuel Grafton Reid and his father was Thomas Reed and his mother was Rachel Banta. Samuel was born in 1842 and was in the 78th IL Regiment. Rachel Banta is the daughter of Magdelena Shuck and Cornelius Banta. If Samuel was born in 1842 the dates don't match with any of the Cornelius/Magdelena/Rachel Bantas around. Suellen
