Which Banta History? I know of 4. The earliest is Theodore Bantas: A Frisian family" NY 1893 which has been reprinted and is available from the Dutch Family Heritage Soc., at 2463 Ledgewood Drive, West Jordan, UT 84084-5738. It is well written with some errors. Good stories, comprehensive. Price?
Another, which is good for the spouses families is Elsa Banta's: Banta Pioneers and Records of the Wives and Allied Familes. 1983-92. After the early generations it is not inclusive and follows one line down to the present time. Can be purchased from her at Rt 4 Box V118 Viroqua, WI 54665 for something like $35. If you haven't seen these I recommend them. Another is Joan Englund Murray's The Bantas of Pleasant Hill, KY, 1985 and is available from her at 11281 N. Linden Ave., Palatine, IL 60067. It also concentrates on one line, but has early material and a lot on the Shakers in KY. About same price. Another smaller book is Franklyn Frick's: Hendrick Banta III, 1984. It is available on microfilm from LDS.
