Hello, I am from southern indiana and my great grandmothers last name is Banta and i was just inquiring some information on the Banta family history. Specifically i was interested in gaining information on Bantas who are members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. I have noticed that they attended school in Indiana and i didnt know if i would happen to be related to them. I have went through my pledge manual of Phi Delta Theta and it makes mention of 5 generations of Banta Phis. It mentions three of their names. George Banta Sr. who was one of the Second founders of the fraternity. He went to Franklin-Indiana University and graduated in 1876. He was also the president of the First general council of the fraternity from 1880-1882. Also their is George Banta Jr. who graduated from Wabash in 1914. He was also a past president of the General Council. HE was president from 1932-1934. And finally it makes mention of one more Banta in the Manual. This last Banta is David D. Banta and he graduated from Indiana University in 1855. He was also one of the first 75 men initiated into the fraternity. Well if anyone knows any information on this could you please respond. I am eager to learn as much about this as i can.
Thanks Ryan
