John Banta and Polly Reed were married 30 Aug., 1821 in Switzerland Co.,IN. One person answered me and said, John Wesley Reed was Polly's nephew. In 1870, John was living with John Banta 55 Farmer, Mary J 49 wife, Miliard 14 son, George B 9 son, Thomas W 11 son, Mary Anderson 14, domestic, J? Franklin 19 farm laborer, John Reed 18,John is same as sons,just M W. As Polly is a nickname for Mary, I have no way of knowing if these are the same John and wife. So this is where I am against the rock and a hard place. I need to find the names of Polly Reed and John Banta's parents. There were several John Banta's in Switzerland Co.,IN at the same time. I don't believe this John Banta is the one that married Polly Reed and several Banta girl's married Reed's. If you can help me I will be very grateful.
