Does anyone out there know anything of Bannon families from County Cork? I found an ancestor's grave in the book "New Yorkers Carved in Stone" with a very worn and hard to read inscription transcribed as
"Erected by Owen Bannon in memory of brother
Michaael Bannon native of Parish (Ca--n-rode) Cork"
I'd be interested in any guesses about the parish name.
Owen Bannon was my gt-gt-grandfather. His brother Michael died in 1865 in NYC. Owen died in 1882 also in NYC.
