Hi Tina. My name is Pat. I have a 1880 census report that has:
Bannister, Aaron age-55
Bannister, Elizabeth -wife, age-44
Bannister, Charles - son - age-19
Bannister, Jane - daughter - age-19
Bannister, William - son - age-15
Burley (bunley)? - son- age-6
Thomas, Serreystha ?sp? niece - 31
No mention of Ezekiel, but he was probably not living with Aaron at this time. I'm not sure about the spelling of the niece's name. This shows them living in Washington Parish in 1880.
I also have a letter dated Jan. 7, 1928. This letter is from J. M. Bannister in Bogalusa La. IT is written to my great grandfather, Tom Bannister in Jones La. In this letter J. M. Bannister tells Tom Bannister that they are blood cousins. In this letter he also says that Tom Bannister's father is John Bannister and his mother was Izella Roberts. He goes on to say that John Bannister's brother is Aaron Bannister. J. M. Bannister says that he is the grandson of Aaron Bannister. He goes on to tell Tom Bannister that he has four blood cousins of the Bannister name in the Bogalusa area. These cousins of Tom Bannister's are Aaron Bannister's children. They are: Leslie Bannister at Kentwood La., B. A. Bannister at Slidell La., Willie Bannister at Bogalusa La., and Charley Bannister at Mt. Hermon La.
There is no mention of Ezekiel or Jane Bannister, but this sounds like the same Bannister, except You say Aaron Bannister's brother was Ezekiel. Maybe John was his middle or first name. The timeline seems right, because my great grandfather was born in the late 1860's.
My e-mail is listed above if you would like to reply.
Pat
