I'm a volunteer at the Banning Residence Museum in Wilmington, Los Angeles County, California. There are many decendants of Phineas Banning living in Southern California and they held a family reunion at the Museum a couple of years ago. However, in order to protect their privacy I wouldn't want to post any contact information on the internet. Check out the Museum's web site at www.banning.org and send an e-mail to the curator, Michael Sanborn. I'm sure he will put you in touch with the people doing our geneological research and may even be willing to forward your correspondence to family members. Just to set the record straight: The Banning Residence Museum is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The financial support group is known as The Friends of the Banning Museum and offers many levels of membership. The volunteer group is known as The Banning Residence Museum Volunteers. I am the chairman of that group. The Museum hosts special events throughout the year, the most popular being Victorian Christmas. However, a sit-down dinner in the historic dining room has NEVER been a feature of that event. Our next major event is called FLORIADE and will feature the talents of several well-known florists who will use the rooms of this historic museum as settings for their floral creations. The Banning Residence Museum was featured in the August/September 1999 issue of Colonial Homes Magazine if you're interested in viewing some great photos. Feel free to correspond with me if you'd like. I do have some geneology information from my initial training as a touring docent. Good luck, Kathy Matthews Chairman, Banning Residence Museum Volunteers
