I have only recently begun my Banning research but have extensive notes from a cousin already researching this line. The only thing I know about Phineas Banning is that he was the g-grandson of Edward Banning b. in England before 1650. Also, my notes say Phineas was the founder of Banning, California.
Edward Banning b. before 1650 in England d. before 1710 Talbot Co., Maryland, said to have been a cousin of John Banning who settled in Lyme Co., Connecticut. Purchased 50 acres of land known as "Goose Neck" on the north side of the Choptank River on 13 Jan. 1690. Said to have been a sea captain.
