After 200 years the John Banner stone is still there but the inscription has long since disapeared. A few years ago while visiting the cemetery the owner of the land came out to talk to my wife I when he noticed we were interested in the old Banner stone. The land on which the cemetery is located has been in his family for generations. He passed away shortly after our visit. He told us the story of John Banner and said he remembered when the inscription was still on the stone and that the matter of his death by the bite of a rabid dog was part of the inscription. I feel that the time has come to replace and update that stone. What I'm asking is a show of hands of those interested and willing to pledge support of such a project. There are lot's of us out there and it wouldn't take a large amount from each of us to accomplish such a project. I live in California but I've contacted a Banner descendant in Castlewood who is a friend of the present land owner and can see no problem in going forward. Please pass the word and let's get started. You can contact me Tom Rudder,at ruddert@sbcglobal.net Notify Administrator about this message?
