In response to Sandra Henderson re: Banner's of Banner-Elk, NC. You were wondering what James Bannner's middle name was. This is in response to Roberta Banner. James' middle name was Horton. I am his niece. My father was John Edward Banner, the brother of James Horton Banner. I am understanding that my great great great great grandfather was Henry Banner, and he came from England. In fact I heard that he was the flag carrier for the King, and was called the Bannerman. He later shorted his name to Banner. When he came to America he settled in Banner's Elk North Carolina.
