Banner Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Amy:I have been meaning to e-mail you for some time now. I saw your query in GenForum regarding the Banners of Banner Elk, NC. I am descended from this same family. You mentioned a Grace Banner. The only Grace that I have in my records that could possibly be your husband's grandmother is Grace Banner, daughter of Daniel Banner & Della Cable. I don't show who this Grace married, and I don't show that she had a brother Ray. Do you have any dates or other clues that might help me place her? This is the line of descent I show for "my" Grace Banner: 1. Henry Banner (1723/1727-1789) & Charity Eleanor Martin (ca. 1730-ca. 1789) 2. Ephraim Banner, Sr. (1753-1838) & Sarah (Sally) Martin (1755-1792) 3. Joshua Banner (1775-ca. 1845) & Martha (Patty) Bitting (1782-after 1854) 4. John William Banner, Sr. (ca. 1819-ca. 1884) & Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Shipwash (ca. 1823-ca. 1860) 5. Henry Banner (1843-1894) & Orpha Mahalia Lusk (1839-1929) 6. Daniel Banner (1879-1938) & Della C. Cable (1883-1954) 7. Grace Banner (& siblings Barney, Floyd, Oscar, Mamie, & Pardee) I know your family must connect with mine, but I'm not sure if this is the right way. I am descended from John William Banner, Sr.'s daughter, America Banner Presnell. She was my great, great-grandmother. John & his brothers moved to Banner Elk which was named for their family. Please let me know if this helps, or if you can shed any more light on this. Thanks. P. S. Banner Elk has always been in North Carolina rather than in Tennessee. It is located in present-day Avery Co., NC which borders Tennessee.
