Henry and Martha Bankston moved from Georgia to the Miller/
Lafayette County area of Arkansas before the Civil War. They
are buried in the Macedonia Cemetery in Bright Star, AR
along with their son, T.Perry Bankston and his wife Evie
and their son, O'Neal Bankston.
My ggggreatgrandmother was Priscilla Bankston Mathis, daughter of Laurence Bankston of Wilkes County, GA. Her
daughter was Isabella Mathis Allen, wife of J.C.Allen. This
couple is also buried in Macedonia Cemetery. They also
came to Lafayette County before the War around 1850. Isabella was born in Wilkes County, married in Coweta County
and her daughter Frances Permelia Allen was born in Cobb
County where Priscilla and William Mathis were living before
1850. All these of course are Georgia counties.
Does anyone know of a kinship that existed between the
Bankston and Allen families in Lafayette County AR? Where
did Henry and Martha live in Georgia before they moved to
Arkansas? Who were their parents? Were Isabella and Henry
cousins?
Laurence Bankston was the son of Andrew/Andres Bankston
who was born in Pennsylvania.
Any information about this Bankston family in Lafayette County AR will be appreciated.
