Bankston/Bankson family

I am looking for anyone who can help me with my family. I am trying to locate Alanson Bankson with wife Sarah Burnham. I know very little about them except that they had a daughter while they lived in Canada in 1839. Her name was louisa and her death certificate says that she was born in Detroit Canada. A newspaper clipping says that she was raised in the Wisconsin woods, so that means Alanson and family must have moved to Wisconsin sometime in the early 1840s.
I have 2 different points of origin for Alanson, one census says louisa's father was from germany, and another says he was American.
I also know that Sarah Burnham (Louisa's mother) later married a Mr. Gilmore who was living in Ohio in 1882.
If you can help-please let me know. I have been looking for 17 years and have come up with nothing! Thanks so much, Robbi Hoy
