This weekend I went to Phillipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, NY.I am related to the Banker/Bancker family through Maria Banker and Capt. John Boeckhout, her husband.I asked about the tenant farmers on the manor, and the docent got out a list of tenant fees paid in 1750.Listed is a Jacob Buckhout, Capt. John Bouckhout (spelling certainly fluctuated back then) and Hen'k Banker! So, I can't tell you much, but I have placed your Hen'k Banker at Phillipsburg where he was a tenant farmer who paid his rent on time. They grew wheat there on 92,000 acres owned by Frederick Phillipse and then his son Adolphe-when Adolphe died in 1750, a complete inventory was made up of the Manor--the restoration has followed that to the letter and has the entire place as it was in 1750 when it was run with the help of 23 African slaves. It is really interesting to go there--the docents were very helpful and SO thrilled to connect to one of their names.
