Here are some notes from my files.I hope it helps.
One researcher says Azariah is Azariah Luke... I have found nothing to indicate that ???
In an Application of Reimbursement by H. (Hugh) P. Banister (son, age 49) states Azariah married 4 times: Margaret Baker, Emma Fagans, Alvira Youder (marriage license states it's Susan E.(Elvira maybe?) Yoder)
and Bell Kier. One researcher says that Azariah did not live with his last wife, he lived with Hugh and Hugh's wife. Hugh is blind.
(Vivian's note:The Yoder connection is also present in the family of Laban/Labein/Laborn BANISTER who seems to have a connection of some kind to Luke Banister.Luke Banister is the father of Azariah.)
Arkansas City Daily Traveler.. Wednesday October 14, 1925
Azariah Banister, age 80, veteran of the Civil war and for 44 years a resident of this section, died at the home of his son, H.P. Banister

(These three were brothers.. I have wondered if Laban might also be a brother or at least a close cousin to these fellows???
In 1912 pension request by Susan E. Yoder, she states she was deserted by Azariah on 21 Nov 1911 at Arkansas City, KS.They married 5 Apr 1911 (copy of their marriage license is included).
Frances Ward and Helen Hodgkinson attest to that.
Azariah BANISTER's civil war pension file states he was married to Margaret (Baker), then E. Feagins (m. 27 Dec 1878 in Winfield KS.).
The Marriage Licensewas issued in Winfield, Kansas on April 5 A.D. 1911.Azariah was living in Arkansas City, KS and was 65.Susan was living in El Reno, OK and was 60 years of age. They were married by Rev. Luke Scripture of Winfield.Sorry it doesn't give the birthplace of Susan.Seeing as how Susan was 60 years old when they wed, she may have been married before and this is her married name. The Declaration of Wife Under Act of March 3, 1899 does not ask for the birthplace of the wife.
I don't know where or when she died.At the time of her application for a pension she was living at #816 West London St. El Reno, OKI'm wondering if the two people who attested to her application might have been sisters orclose relatives.I would love to know more about Susan should you have other information regarding her.
Happy New Year
