Jerold,
Thanks for your reply. I have forwarded your posting to R.L. Guffin in hopes he may be able to help. R.L. has been researching the Banister's and the associated Hairston and Murdock lines for 30-40 years and might have what you're looking for. Most of the Banister records I have pertain to military service in the Revolutionary War,1836 Florida Seminole War and The War For Southern Independence. R.L. will probably have any records from the War of 1812. Thomas Sr.'s son, Mattison, did serve in the 1812 conflict. I do have copies of military records for Mattison's sons in the 1836 Florida Seminole War. John and Thomas, Mattison's sons, served in Childs' Co., Goodwyn's S.C. Mtd. Militia. I also have a copy of some 1830's records from Old Little River Church in Abbeville County, S.C. William Banister, son of Thomas Sr., is mentioned in the July 1833 church minutes. I also know that some of the Cobb County, GA Banister's, male and female, came to southwest Arkansas around 1855 as pioneer settlers. They were part of a migration of Dunn's, Banister's and Hairston's led by their fellow Cobb Countian James K. Dunn. I have some photos of their graves at the Dunn Cemetery in Nevada County, AR. My own GG Grandfather, J.A. Richardson, married Martha Ann Banister-Dukes in Cobb County, GA and moved to Nevada County, AR after the war. I would be glad to send you a copy of R.L.'s Banister article if you want. Just send me a postal address via e-mail. He also has written an article on the Murdock's as well.
