I have alot of Banister Family originally said to be from South Carolina that moved up to Indiana. I have recently visited a graveyard of Banisters in Columbus , Indiana.
A Whole family of Banisters seemed to live there in 1830 and on to 1880. Most of the Banister line I am a direct descendant to , moved to Missouri and further on West, after living in Indiana. There was a James Banister at the graveyard I visited. I am not sure if it is the one you are looking for. I have pictures of the Banister Graves if you are interested. Have you looked in Bartholomew County? It is not too far from Dearborn County, and I know for sure there were many Banisters there. Let me know. Cindy
