Ellen Bangs was sister to Missouri Francis (Bangs) Brown. Missouri's daughter Delilah C. (Brown) Rippy completed a Eastern Cherokee application.
Per Eastern Cherokee application No. 27416 of Delilah C. (Brown) Rippy she states that her mother was Missouri Francis Banges who married David Crockett Brown. Missouri Francis Banges is the daughter of Iron Banges and Elizabeth Casey. She states that her grandmother Elizabeth Casey is 1/2 blood Cherokee. This claim by Delilah C. (Brown) Rippy was denied as they could not find Elizabeth Casey on any other cherokee rolls.
Delilah states that the children of Iron and Elizabeth are Jake Banges, Ellen Banges, Missouri Francis Banges, Jane Banges and Manda Banges. In the 1850 census Orrin Bangs has these 5 children listed but he is listed with wife Nancy.
Ellen had at least 1/4 Cherokee blood per Delilah (Brown) Rippy's application.
