Mortgage Deed
To Robert McQuown

This Indenture, made this eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, Between Mark Bangs and H. Cornelia Bangs his wife of the city of Lacon in the County of Marshall and State of Illinois of the first part, and Robert McQuown of LaSalle County, Illinois of the second part. Whereas the said party of the first part is justly indebted to the said party of the second part in the sum of six thousand nine hundred and fifty secured to be paid by five certain promissory notes in ___ made by Mark Bangs to said Robert McQuown on the eleventh day of September ___ a schedule list of the notes and amounts of which notes is hereto attached and contended a part of this instrument. Now therefore this Indenture Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part for the better securing the payment of the money aforesaid with interest thereon according to the tenor and effect of the said five notes above mentioned ___ also in consideration of the further sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the party of the second part, the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by there presents does grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever. All of that portion of the following described lands which said Robert McQuown sold and deeded to Mark Bangs to wit: The east half of the south east quarter of Section thirty-four (34) the south-west quarter of said Section thirty-five (35) and the south-west quarter of the south-east quarter of said Section thirty-five (35) all the above land being in Township thirty-one (31) north and Range three (3) east of the third principal meridian in LaSalle County and State of Illinois together with all and singular the tenements and outhouses and appurtenances thereunto belonging, and all the estate right ____ interest, property possession, claim and demand whatsoever, as well in law as in equity, of the said party of the first part, of in and to the above described premises, and every part and parcel thereof, with the appurtenances, to have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned and described premises together with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always, and these presents are upon this express condition that if the said party of the first part his heirs, executors, and administrators shall well and truly pay, or cause to be paid to the said to the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, the specified in the above mentioned promissory notes according to the true intent and meaning thereof, that there and in that case, these presents shall be said otherwise to remain in full force. In witness whereof, the said party of the first part have hereunto set there hands and seals this day and year first above written.

       I Washington E. Cook of the county court for said county, do certify that on this day personally appeared before me Mark Bangs whose name appear subscribed to the foregoing deed of conveyance as having executed the same, and who is personally known to me to be the real person who and in whose name the acknowledgement is proposed to be made, and acknowledged the execution thereof as his voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed, and H. Cornelia Bangs wife of the said Mark Bangs having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said deed and by me examined separate and apart from her said husband whether she had executed the same and relinquished her dower to the lands and tenements therein mentioned, acknowledged that she had done so voluntarily and freely and without compulsion of her said husband, and does not wish to retract. Given under my hand and seal of office at Lacon this 11th day of September A.D. 1855

       Schedule list of promissory notes made Mark Bangs to Robert McQuown as referred to in the within deed of Mortgage to wit: one note of ($150 ) one hundred and fifty dollars dated Sept. 11th, 1854 and payable January 1st, 1856. One note of ($400 ) four hundred dollars of same date as the first due 25th of December 1857. And (3) three other notes of date September 11th, 1854 of two-thousand one-hundred thirty-three dollars and thirty-three and one third cents ( 2,133.33 1/3 ) Each the first of which 3 last mentioned notes will be come due and payable on the first day of January 1856 and his second note of said (3) notes will be due on the first day of January 1867 and the third will be due on the first of January 1868 all of the above notes draw 2? Per cent interest fee annum.
