According to Dean Dudley "THE BANGS FAMILY IN AMERICA"
Edward Bangs was married to Lydia Hicks and had a son John who did not have a family.A copy of his will is in Doane's book and he leaves everything to his wife.Doane suggests that Lydia must have died shortly after John's birth.
Rebecca is thought to have been named after he mother. She is Edward Bangs first child by his second wife.
There is an interesting article about this on the web site Bangs and Allied Families in which Judith Cole writes about this confusion about the second wife and mother to all his children except John whose birth date is not mentioned in BIA. I have on record a statement made by the Bangs Family Association in 1917 that conquers that Rebecca Hobart must have been his second wife.
Very confusin isn't it. When you have it down on paper it doesn't seem so bad.
